TBSAA Now Accepting Application for Grant Program 2017

National Convention 2017 Website & Registration Lauched

TBSAA Welcomes Back the Delta Alpha AA

The TBSAA is proud and happy to announce the renewal of the Delta Alpha Alumni Association for the 2016-17 membership year.  The DAAA is affiliated with Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, and is primarily made of alumni of the Delta Alpha chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  Congratulations to the DAAA!  Thank you for your continued support of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA.

New Year & New TBSAA Opportunities!

As we start the new year, I want to again thank you for your membership in the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association. Below are a few updates on the past year and ways to get involved in 2017 including a new opportunity to apply to be a presenter at National Convention. 
In 2016 with your support TBSAA:
  • Raised $3,000 for VH1 Save the Music through our virtual For Greater Bands 5K!
  • Awarded our second annual TBSAA Grant to Jennifer Villarreal to fund a clinician’s travel to her South Texas school district to help her students become better musicians.
  • Rolled out a new tiered membership model to provide more levels of engagement for our members.
We can’t wait to do even more this year. Here are a few ways to get involved in 2017:
  • Attend National Convention: As we start the new year, we are gearing up for an exciting National Convention in Orlando. We look forward to having a wide array of workshops, business meetings, and social activities specifically for alumni. I hope you will consider attending. Registration will open in February. Follow National Convention updates on Facebook.
  • Apply to be a workshop presenter: Becuase we know that our members have a wide range of personal and professional experience, we are opening a call for applications to present a workshop at National Convention.  If selected to present at National Convention, TBSAA will cover your registration cost. You can also apply with other alumni to co-present together. Applications are due by February 15. Read more and apply. 

  • Participate in District Alumni Association activities: Our District Alumni Associations are hard at working planning exciting activities for the upcoming district conventions. The DAA’s provide a great opportunity to get involved with district events, committees, and opportunities to provide leadership. Find more information and contact info.

Welcome back to the Psi Alumni Association!

The TBSAA is excited to announce the re-chartering of the Psi Alumni Association for the 2016-17 membership year.  The PsiAA is affiliated with the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and is made up of alumni of the Psi chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  Congratulations to the PsiAA!  Thank you for your continued support of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA.

TBSAA announces the Renewal of the Psi Sigma AA!

The TBSAA is happy and excited to announce the return of the Psi Sigma Alumni Association for the 2016-17 membership year.  The PSAA is associated with Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama.  Many of the members are alumni of the Delta Theta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  Congratulations to the Psi Sigma AA!  Thank you for your continued support of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA.

TBSAA Announces the Renewal of the SED Alumni Association!

The TBSAA is happy and excited to announce the renewal of the Southeast District Alumni Association for the 2016-17 membership year.  The SEDAA is the LAA for alumni of chapters in the Southeast District of Tau Beta Sigma, and also for those now living within the borders of the SED.  Congratulations to the SEDAA!  Thank you for your continued support of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA.  The SED Convention will be held March 31-April 2, 2017, at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Epsilon Psi Alumni Association Renewed for 2016-17!

The TBSAA is happy to announce the renewal of the Epsilon Psi Alumni Association for the 2016-17 membership year.  The EPAA is affiliated with Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas, and is made of alumni of the Epsilon Psi chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  Congratulations to the EPAA!  Thank you for your continued support of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA.

TBSAA announces Beta Xi AA renewed for 2016-17!

The TBSAA is proud to announce the renewal of the Beta Xi Alumni Association for the 2016-17 membership year.  The BXAA is affiliated with the University of Florida in Talahassee, Florida, and is made up of alumni of the Beta Xi chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.  Congratulations to the BXAA!  Thank you for your continued support of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA.

Recipient of the 2016 TBSAA Grant Announced

The TBSAA Executive Council is proud to announce the recipient of the 2016 TBSAA Grant: Jennifer Villarreal, alumna of the Beta Zeta chapter at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Jennifer is a native of San Antonio, Texas, and currently serves as the district flute instructor in Roma Independent School District in Texas, and teaches at Roma High School, Roma Middle School, and Ramiro Barrera Middle School.

Jennifer’s grant proposal sought to assist alleviate the cost of bringing a clinician to the district for the Fall 2016 Semester. Being 4 hours away from the closest metropolitan area, the Roma band program lacks in direct, regular contact with the available band professionals. The TBSAA’s grant will assist provide funding for a clinician to travel to South Texas and help her students become better musicians.

The E.C. would like to thank all of the grant program applicants. The alumni of Tau Beta Sigma are doing amazing work supporting music programs across the country. Information about the 2017 TBSAA grant will be released next year. Congratulations Jennifer!
