National Scholarship for Graduate Studies

The TBSAA National Scholarships for Graduate Studies honors members of the Alumni Association who are furthering their personal and professional development by studying in a graduate degree or certificate program. Scholarship recipients receive an award of $750. The scholarship is open to TBSAA members at the standard Alumni membership level or higher. Applicants must be actively enrolled, or accepted to begin in the fall term, in a master’s degree, doctoral degree, or graduate certificate program. Returning students must have a 3.0 graduate grade point average. Applications are due on May 1st.

Items required for submission:

  • *Scholarship Application Form
  • *Current professional Résumé
  • *Photo and Biography suitable for publication (max 200 words)
  • *Brief essay of no more than 1000 words, describing why the applicant is returning to school for graduate studies. This can include such topics as (but not limited to):
  • *Professional goals after graduation
  • *Research objectives, goals, or interests (if applicable)
  • *Reason for starting a new academic field (if applicable)
  • *Life experiences or events which prompted the decision (if applicable)
  • *Any influence that their relationship with Tau Beta Sigma had on this decision (if applicable)
  • *Academic Record (current graduate school transcript–if already enrolled; if applying as a new graduate student, submit a copy of acceptance letter).

In order to apply, the applicant must meet the below requirements:

  • Applicants must be a member of the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association at the standard Alumni membership level or higher at the time of application, and remain so during the academic year they are the scholarship recipient.
  • Applicants must be admitted to or already studying in a master’s degree, doctoral degree, or graduate certificate program.
    • Note: Graduate certificate programs must earn graduate course credit. Certificates which are earned with continuing education units are not eligible.
  • Must have a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in graduate coursework.
    • Applicants entering their first year of a graduate program will submit a copy of their admission letter.
  • Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time, as defined by their institution, during the fall & spring semesters–or fall, winter, and spring quarters.
