The Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association is pleased to welcome the newly appointed members of the TBSAA Executive Council: Dr. Thea Murphy and Jessica Smith. Thea and Jessica have been appointed to fill the open positions on the EC with terms ending in July 2023.
Dr. Thea Murphy
Dr. Ovura (Thea) Murphy is a LIfe member of the Theta Kappa Chapter at the Morris Brown College. At MBC, she played flute and piccolo, as well as served in several chapter offices and committees. She joined the Atlanta Alumni Association in 2010 and has received several awards and served two terms as President. Dr. Murhpy is in her 24th year as an educator and is currently a College and Career Readiness Coordinator for Atlanta Public Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Morris Brown College and a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Georgia State University. In 2018, Thea earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.
Jessica Smith
Epsilon Epsilon
Jessica L. Smith is a Life Member of the Epsilon Epsilon chapter at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. While at Kutztown, she was a member of the color guard, served as chapter secretary and treasurer, and the NED Convention co-Coordinator in 2004. Jessica also served as NED Treasurer for 2004-2005. She was a charter member of the TBSAA in 2007 and served as secretary of the NEDAA from 2006-2010. Jessica is also an Honorary membership of the Zeta Mu chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and she became a Life member of the Fraternity in 2016. She has a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Library Science. Jessica currently lives in York, Pennsylvania.
